There are so many potential choices. "Yes I can, and celebrate doing so." "I can, but only when the sexual pressure builds up to the point that it cannot be ignored." "I can, because it is a gift of God, given for me to enjoy whenever I feel so inclined." "I can, but God has given me the gift of total celibacy and I chose not to do so." "I cannot because if is forbidden by God; it is an act of lust." And finally, "to be honest, I don t know what to think about it."</p> <p>No matter who we are we do have to come to <em>some decision.</em> Sooner or later we will be presented with the urge to pleasure ourselves sexually, and it is good if, when that urge comes (<em>and it will!</em>) we can face it armed with a decision already made. It will help us preserve a clear conscience about what we choose to do, and how we decide to do it.</p> <h3>Nudity and/or Erotica</h3> <p><span class="firstletter">A</span>nd if we do decide that solo sex will be a part of our life, we also need to make a decision about the use of nudity and/or erotica. If the answer is yes, then there are other questions to answer. Where do I draw the line? Do I decide to use just:</p> <ul> <li> my imagination,</li><li> lingerie ads,</li><li> mild nudity,</li><li> sensual pictures,</li><li> erotic clips from regular movies,</li><li> pictures of simulated sex,</li><li> or more?</li></ul> <p>And these decisions need to be made in the fear of God, seeking for His wisdom and favour.</p> <p>"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5 (NKJV)</p> <h3>God is Faithful</h3> <p><span class="firstletter">O</span>nce you decide before God what your masturbatory parameters are, what you can enjoy with a clear conscience, I have one piece of advice for you. Don t sweat it. I said it before but it is important and bears repeating. If we make a mistake, and God wants us to do things differently, He is both faithful and gracious. He <em>will</em> let us know. In fact, He will not only let us know, but He will provide the grace to make any necessary changes.</p> <p>I do not believe that I have all the answers. I have spent several years praying about this, studying the Scriptures and the writings of others, and in careful reflection. And I have presented you with my beliefs and conclusions concerning solo sex. But I suggest you not just take my word for it. You might want to do some research in the Word of God, and consider the opinion of others.
